A couple of years ago, I discovered a hidden gem in Bexleyheath.

Tucked away behind the Learning and Enterprise College in Brampton Road, sits the Edward Alderton Theatre.

Since that discovery I have been privy to some excellent entertainment,

enjoying each and every performance immensely, and at a very reasonable cost. Not only that, I have seen for myself some of the extraordinary local talent hidden away in this little corner of south-east London.

Last week I was treated to a hilarious and highly entertaining performance of You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. The whole production was just brilliant. Very funny.

I’m no theatre critic but I do appreciate good entertainment and I was so impressed with the standard of each and every cast member; great acting, humour, timing and singing; so much talent. And to add to it all, excellent musical backing from the Peanuts Combo.

My only regret is that I could only go on the last night; if only I’d been able to go earlier in the week, I could have gone back to see it again!

Okay this little gem of a theatre seats just 74 people but that only adds to the atmosphere. It’s such a friendly and welcoming venue – and my interval ice cream only cost £1.00!

There’s also a very reasonably priced licensed bar but on a very warm evening, an ice cream was called for.

But how sad that there were so many empty seats. The people of Bexley clearly don’t know what they’re missing.

I’m already looking forward to the next production ‘A Clockwork Orange’ from 20th – 27th October.

Shhhh, don’t tell everyone though, I might not get my favourite seat!
