The children of Belvedere Junior School were treated to a visit by children’s author Jack Trelawny.

Jack Trelawny, who has written six novels for children in the Kernowland in Erthwurld series, held an exciting assembly to the whole school.

Jack inspired pupils by reading extracts of his books and involving pupils through questioning and visuals to enthuse young minds to think creatively.

Becky Lomax, headteacher, said: “Pupils were taken away to a land of imagination, mystery and adventure; Jack Trelawny definitely provided food for thought to inspire storytelling and creative writing for our children.”

Teacher and organiser of the event, Mrs Mistry said: “We are promoting reading in our school - having an assembly by Jack Trelawny was a great way of celebrating literacy at Belvedere Junior School.”

Charming pupils with his wit and generosity, Jack also gave away signed copies of his books to pupils who asked brilliant questions.

Following the assembly, a number of children were overjoyed as they had an opportunity to meet the author during a book-signing session.

As well as all pupils, teachers and TAs thoroughly enjoyed Jack Trelawny’s visit, overall it was a great success!
