Bannockburn Primary School in Plumstead was the only state school to make it through to the live #juniorlanguagechallenge semi-finals for the south east held at Cranmore Prep School in Surrey.
All three contestants got at least 260 points out of 300 for Khmer (Cambodian), and narrowly missed getting selected for the finals – for which only three out of 30 students qualified.
The students from Bannockburn School who took part in the semis so successfully were Karan Abrol, Meltem Ileri and Natalia Martens-Ivanoff.
