The Friends of Astley Day Centre Fundraising Group held a Summer Breeze Garden Disco, BBQ and table top sale at the Astley Day Centre, Magpie Hall Lane, Bromley on Saturday 12th August, 1-4pm.

The event had something for all the family with plenty of entertainment for children including stalls, games, face painting and a fire engine to explore. There’s lots for adults too including a model rail exhibition designed by staff member, Alan Brown, and built by people supported at the Centre. As well as burgers and hot dogs from the BBQ, there will be a tea stall selling cakes and cream teas and ice creams with a fruity twist.

The Astley Day Centre is run by Certitude to support local adults with learning disabilities. Money raised from the event will be used to fund extra resources and activities.

Volunteer, Sue Burgess, says: “We are saving for a Magic Carpet for the centre which is a fantastic sensory learning tool. In the last year we have also funded theatre trips and outings to places like Hever Castle.

“We have a wonderful team of volunteers who work very hard so we were delighted by how many people came to enjoy our summer event. We were particularly pleased to welcome three new volunteers from local law firm, Thackray Williams. We’re always keen to hear from new volunteers so if anyone want to come and help out please do email me at sburgess@certitude.org.uk”
