Local nail professional, Sue Davies from Gorgeous Emporium, Bexley is celebrating a triumphant win after being rewarded for Services to the Nail Industry, sponsored by Sweet Squared, at the Scratch Stars Awards 2017. The most prestigious annual awards on every nail professional’s calendar, presented by leading industry publication Scratch magazine, are now in their 6th year of recognising and rewarding outstanding talent and achievement within the professional nail industry. Sue says, “This is the kind of award that a nail tech can only dream of receiving. When my name was in the list of finalists, that was an amazing moment, but to actually have been honoured with one of the highest accolades in our industry has been quite something else. This week, following the Scratch Awards on Sunday I still haven’t landed back on earth. When I started in this industry 15 years ago I never thought I’d ever even make being a reasonable nail tech so to have had the opportunities I’ve had, and to have been able to work alongside some of the amazing people I have, has been an honour in itself. This is the cherry on the icing on the cake!! Thank you Scratch Stars for recognising my work.”

On Sunday 23rd July, 400 guests attended the Scratch Summer Party at Tropicana Beach Club – Covent Garden’s newest hotspot – to celebrate nail technicians, bloggers and salons from across the UK. The night, which was hosted by Blue singer turned actor Duncan James with a live performance from X-Factor finalist Amelia Lily, was hugely successful in recognising all the incredible work, dedication and diverse talent the nation’s best has to offer.

This special award is to recognise someone within the professional nail industry who has over the years been dedicated to the growth and promotion of the industry and who has strived to improve standards and raise the professionalism of the sector.

Along with taking home the sort-after gold trophy, winners will receive a gift from the sponsor and will be profiled within Scratch Magazine throughout the coming year.

Helena Biggs, Editor of Scratch Magazine said “The judges recognised the immense efforts that Sue has put into enhancing standards of the industry over a number of years through various projects, initiatives and education.”
