Last Saturday, 24th June, The Beckenham Concert Band with special guests, The Choir of the Royal Free Music Society, thrilled a large audience at St Barnabas Church with a mix of music for Band and voices. The Choir sang selections from 'Les Miserables' and 'Mama Mia', while the Band played music from 'The Blues Brothers', 'Oliver' and 'Grease'. The Concert finished with both groups joining together to perform a medley of Frank Sinatra hits, including 'New York, New York' and, of course, 'My Way'.
Over £1000 was raised in the evening to support the new Cancer Centre at Guy's Hospital which brings together treatment, research and support facilities in a purpose built building.
The Beckenham Concert Band can be heard on the Bandstand at Broadstairs this Saturday and at the Alexandra Road Recreation Ground on Sunday 30th July. Further details can be found on the band's website: www.beckenhamconcertband.com
