Bryon Huson, former President and a Patron of Bexleyheath and Crayford Conservative Association, and an active local Conservative Party member for nearly 60 years died on Saturday 25th February after a short illness. Bryon was still very active in local politics, serving as Chairman of Christchurch Ward Conservatives and had chaired the Ward AGM on the Friday evening before his death.
Bryon, a bachelor in his eighties, who had lived all his life in Bexleyheath, was also very involved in the Freemasons and the local Bowling Club. He was a keen traveller and an excellent photographer who gave illustrated fundraising talks on his expeditions.
Conservative Association Chairman Simon Windle said “Bryon has been a stalwart of the Association since I first joined in the late 1990s. His commitment to delivering our literature and canvassing his beloved Christchurch Ward would have been impressive for others many years younger than him. Our Association has a great void as a result of Bryon’s passing.”
Rt Hon David Evennett MP spoke about Bryon as “a hardworking, loyal and dedicated Conservative who was a good friend and supporter. He had a sense of humour and a great personality. He will be much missed by me and by his many friends.”
