Sanctuary Care residents in Erith have celebrated the grand unveiling of their newly-refurbished home with the local Mayor at a Valentine’s themed celebration.
To mark the completion of the home’s refurbishment, the team and residents at Shaftesbury Court Residential Care Home were joined by their community and the Mayor of Bexley Councillor Eileen Pallen.
The residents wrote down their fondest moments about life in the home on a heart to place on a memory tree. There was also live music and delicious refreshments.
90-year-old resident Vera Martin said: “It was a lovely celebration, the music was perfect and the Mayor was so kind, it was great to have everyone here to be a part of our celebrations.”
Fellow resident Geoff Leer, 70, added: “It was nice that everyone could come along and celebrate with us as the new suites are lovely, the singer was amazing and fun was had by all.”
The Sanctuary Care’s home deputy manager Blessing Adamu said: “Our Valentine’s themed opening was a great celebration and the residents thoroughly enjoyed it!
“There were lots of smiles, laughter, toe-tapping music and fond memories so it was the perfect way to mark the opening of our new new suites.”
