A leading home care provider has been recognised for the high standards and quality of services they provide to people across the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Bluebird Care received an inspection from the Care Quality Commission recently reporting on all aspects of the service.

An extract of the report says: “People and their relatives gave us positive feedback about safety and told us that staff treated them well.

One person said, ‘I feel extremely good, very safe, and the agency is very professional.’ Another person said, ‘I am very safe indeed.’ A third person said, ‘I am fine, no trouble whatsoever.’ A relative told us, ‘We went on holiday, my relative had night care as well, brilliant no problems at all, my relative felt totally safe, great assurance for us’."

Providing care in the community throughout the whole of Greenwich, Bluebird Care’s personal, tailor-made approach has proved to be a big hit with customers. The business is owned and operated by Anoop Sekhon - who is passionate about providing high quality care for local people.

Inspectors from the regulator visited the area last month to find out what services Bluebird Care was offering, and the impact these were having on people’s lives.

As well as the high quality provision of personal care, the report also highlights the positive work that has been done to include customers in the day-to-day decisions about the care they receive.

The report said: “The service sought the views of people who used the services, and has an effective system to assess and monitor the quality of the care people received.

The service was caring. People and their relatives told us they were consulted about their care and support needs. Staff treated people with respect and kindness, and encouraged them to maintain their independence. Staff respected people's privacy and treated them with dignity.”

Inspectors then went on to add: “Staff showed an understanding of equality and diversity. One relative told us, ‘The service makes everyone inclusive, acknowledge people's faith and culture, they [staff] are very engaging, sensible and sensitive.’ Staff completed care records for every person who used the service, which included details about their ethnicity, preferred faith, culture and spiritual needs.

One staff member told us, ‘I take a person to church every Sunday on their wheelchair; they love to go to church.’ Staff we spoke with told us that the service was non-discriminatory and that they would always seek to support people with any needs they had with regards to their disability, race, religion, sexual orientation or gender.”

The Care Quality Commission’s positive report allows the organisation to stand out from other providers of care across the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

With the local office based near Eltham, care is provided in New Eltham, Charlton, Woolwich, Greenwich, Plumstead, and parts of Blackheath, Abbey wood and Thamesmead.

Managing Director Anoop Sekhon is delighted with the report. She said: "We offer a professional service, and we judge ourselves daily by the standard of care we are actually delivering. I’m delighted with this positive news from the CQC. We always felt confident we were providing a high quality standard of care, but it is encouraging to have that recognition from our national regulator. To have received such a glowing report is credit to the hard work of our care workers who always go that extra mile to ensure the people we look after have everything they need.”
