British Airways has announced its applications for new pilots are open with those dreaming of a career in the sky encouraged to apply.
The airline’s Speedbird Pilot Academy is giving people the opportunity to become a pilot with no cost.

How to apply to become a pilot with British Airways
Introducing the job role on its website, British Airways says: “Every 90 seconds, a British Airways aircraft takes off from somewhere around the globe.
“Our pilots take millions of customers to hundreds of amazing international destinations every year, doing it in one of the most modern and fuel-efficient fleets of any airline in the world.
“Wherever they’re travelling to, our Captains and First Officers take great pride in creating unique experiences for our customers and extending a big British welcome to everyone who flies with us.
“It’s part of our identity as the nation’s flag carrier, and it’s what makes us different.”
The pilot role is a full-time position based at London Heathrow Airport and you can find out what the process will be like and how to apply via the British Airways website.
Applicants will need be aged 17-55 when applying for the course but they must be aged 18 or over when they begin their training.

You’ll need to have achieved 6 GCSEs of grades A-C or 5-9. This must include English Language, Maths and a science or equivalent.
You must have the right to live and work in the UK with no sponsorship and the airline says you need to be able to obtain and hold a UK CAA Class 1 medical.
British Airways says you’ll earn a competitive salary as well as “flight, nightly and time away allowance” in the role.
The closing date for applications is listed as Friday February 21, 2025.
