Christmas means lots of loved toys will be heading to the toy box or even the bin as new toys are unwrapped.

But you can give your family's unwanted toys a new life thanks to Hungry Horse.

The countrywide pub chain will be launching a donation scheme - Toy Boxing Day.

The scheme is to help parents declutter their homes and to support families who can put the pre-loved toys to good use.

People can leave their toys at any of the 255 Hungry Horse pubs across the UK, where there will be a signposted area for where to leave donations.

At the end of Boxing Day, the toys will be donated to a local charity nominated by each individual pub team.

The chain decided to launch the scheme after research found that nearly 27% of children get bored of their new presents in under ten minutes of receiving them.

Many Brits also struggle to know what to do with the unwanted toys with 40% leaving the toys for landfill and another 25% choosing to get the unopened gift to gather dust.

Business Unit Director for Hungry Horse, Rob Calderbank said "Our new Toy Boxing Day scheme is about helping those that have struggled over the past twelve months."

Adding that "At Hungry Horse, we are big on generosity and whatever it is you’re able to donate on Toy Boxing Day, you can guarantee it’s going to go to someone who really needs it in your local area."
