Nicola Skey, a post woman from Plumstead, took the photo of the display in Lee Terrace.
She said: "It was a beautiful sight to see and it's all part of a community project from Leah Lodge, Rectory Court, Age Exchange and Mycenae House. It's very popular on the community page Plumstead People."
Hundreds of people have reacted to the photo.
One commenter said: "Look at this how brilliant does it look."
Another said: "Every single poppy was knitted as well, it's an absolute work of art."
