The 10 winners of the Epsom and Ewell sports awards have been revealed, after 48 names were entered into the competition.

Over 130 people attended the awards ceremony at Epsom Downs Racecourse on October 16, including nominees, guests, the Mayor of Epsom and Ewell Cllr Neil Dallen.

Also present at the awards ceremony was the Rio 2016 paralympics bronze medallist, Alexandra Rickham.

Epsom and Ewell council said: “Thank you to everyone who nominated their local sporting hero, all 48 nominations were assessed by an independent panel and whittled down to a shortlist.”

The winners in each category are:

  • Marcus Robert, Surrey playing fields young volunteer of the year
  • Diana Norman, Epsom and Ewell colts football club volunteer of the year
  • Epsom RDA national championships team, Epsom and Ewell football club disability sports award
  • Blenheim Girls football team, AFC Ewell young sports team of the year
  • Epsom and Ewell Harriers women’s veterans track and field team, epsom golf club sports team of the year
  • James Peters, active surrey coach of the year
  • James Miller, Epsom gymnastics and trampoline club young sports personality of the year
  • Rosie Clarke, better sports personality of the year
  • Alison McDowall, the rotary club of epsom outstanding service to sport award
  • Epsom and Ewell Harriers, the royal automobile club sports club of the year

Each of the 10 winners will go through the assessment panel for the Surrey sports awards, if they meet the county nomination criteria.
