An Eltham school's first pupils have gone back to say goodbye to the old building before it goes forever.
The old Eltham Green School - now renamed Harris Academy Greenwich with an oustanding Ofsted rating - is being demolished to make way for a new £30m state-of-the-art building.
Terry Moody was joined by 10 other pupils who went to the school soon after it opened in 1956, before leaving and going their separate ways in 1962.
Back then, the school had around 1,000 pupils, five gyms, metal and wood workshops and a host of other facilities, some of which have remained until now.
Mr Moody, now 69 and a retired insurance worker living in Leatherhead, said: "It was very nostalgic of course.
"We're all disappointed because, let's face it, when you went to school you thought it would still be there within your lifetime."
