The busiest tunnel across water and Dartford's most famous road is going to be closed this week for maintenance works.

The Dartford Crossing, which carries up to 50 million journeys a year, will be partially closed overnight this week for planned roadworks carried out by Highways England.

The tunnels will be closed overnight this week between 8.30pm and 5.30am. The east tunnel will be closed between Monday, January 8 and Friday January 12 and the west tunnel will then be closed on Saturday January 13 and Sunday January 14.

The northbound entry slip road for the A282 at junction 1a will also be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5am, on Saturday January 13.

Signed diversions will be in place for motorists, but there is a warning that there may be some disruption caused by the works.
