Two men have been charged following an armed robbery in Hartley.

The robbery happened in Ash Road in broad daylight on Tuesday, September 19.

Robbers reportedly demanded cash from the village Post Office.

Anthony Sweetman, 32, and Ben Medhurst, 41, were arrested on Thursday September 21 and Tuesday October 17 respectively on suspicion of committing the offence.

Sweetman, of Waterdales in Northfleet, and Medhurst, of Burch Road in Gravesend, were both charged on Tuesday (December 12) with robbery, possession of an imitation firearm and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Sweetman was also charged with driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

Both appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court where Sweetman was remanded to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, January 10, and Medhurst was bailed to appear before the court on the same date.
