A day of business workshops, networking and talks to boost your business was held in Beckenham 6 September.

The second Beckenham Business Day, organised by the Beckenham Business Association and supported by London Borough of Bromley, was held at The Bridge Bar on Beckenham High Street.

Around 80 local businesses attended for a day of networking, advice sessions and practical talks on key business topics.

Beckenham’s very own “Great British Bake Off” star Jane Beedle talked about her journey from busy mum to successful garden designer to baking celebrity. She urged the audience to grab every opportunity because you never know what it might lead to.

Other topics included nurturing prospects into clients, online marketing, website optimisation, being a successful maverick in business and sources of alternative funding.

The Mayor of Bromley, Cllr Kathy Bance MBE, opened the event, Jackie Groundsell MD of the networking company 1230 TWC and Chair of BBA, ran her ever popular speed networking sessions, and Kat Webb, who runs the weekly guided tour In Ziggy’s Footsteps – The Walking Tour of David Bowie’s Beckenham, was MC for the day.

A raffle on the day, with prizes donated from local businesses, raised £106 for MindCare Dementia Support. The charity provides dementia support across Beckenham, Bromley and Lewisham to help adults with dementia to stay in their homes and local communities.

The next Beckenham Business Association event will be a breakfast meeting on 21 September. Beckenham Business Association events are free for members and first-time visitors, or £10 each for returning non-members. Annual membership costs just £25.
