Police in Bromley have arrested a man who they allege "thought it was acceptable to abuse the 999 system".
The man, 27, allegedly made 38 "inappropriate calls" to police in just 24 hours.
Bromley officers grew fed-up and decided to take action.
After locating an individual, they seized his phone and put him in a cell on January 10.
They tweeted (January 10) after the arrest saying, "Our operators will be available for people who really need them!"
A police spokesman told News Shopper: "The man has since been charged with Communications Act offences and has been bailed to attend Bromley Magistrates Court."
He will appear in court on January 25.
