A petition to ban the public use of fireworks has got 65,931 signatures.
According to the petition ‘fireworks cause alarm, distress and anxiety to many people and animals.’
If the petition reaches 100,000 signatures, then it will be debated in Parliament.
A post about the petition on Facebook group Orpington Gossip got 53 likes.
Penny J Robson said: “Signed with pleasure, however if they bring out fireworks that do not make a noise, then it would be totally different.”
Dan Briant said: “Quick better ban shrove Tuesday and the sale of eggs and flour. As there’s more injurys on this day that 5th November.”
