We asked the Bexleyheath & Crayford candidates some questions. Three replied, one refused to answer and two failed to get back to us. Read which was which below.

News Shopper:

DAVID EVENNETT (CONSERVATIVE)

Where do you live? I live in Barnehurst, with my wife Marilyn, and have been involved with the local area since 1983. I have served the Bexleyheath and Crayford Constituency as MP from 2005 to 2015 and was previously MP for Erith and Crayford from 1983 until 1997.

Where are you from originally? Romford, Essex

Why do you want to represent this constituency? Bexleyheath is my home and I want to continue to work hard to improve our area and the lives of local people.

What local policy are you most passionate about? I want better access locally to NHS GP services and to ensure it is easier to get an appointment to see our GPs when we need them and get vital treatment as soon as possible.

Describe yourself in 3 words: I am loyal, hardworking and approachable.

Who is your biggest hero? My political hero is Margaret Thatcher and serving under her premiership in the House of Commons was an historic and inspiring experience.

News Shopper:

STEFANO BORELLA (LABOUR)

Where do you live? I live in Albany Park, Sidcup and I am presently the Councillor for Northend ward, which is in the constituency of Bexleyheath and Crayford.

Where are you from originally? My father is Italian, I was born in Lewisham, but moved to Welling when I was 4-years-old. I was schooled at St. Stephen's in Welling and St. Columba's in Bexleyheath.

Why do you want to represent this constituency? This is an area I have spent many years living in, I want to help improve residents' lives in the area and assist residents in any issues they may have to make it a better place to live.

What local policy are you most passionate about? Housing, the lack of available social rented property and the lack of 'real' affordable housing being built for residents in Bexley, working people are being exploited by the present housing market which offers no long term stability. Improving transport links in the area is another passion of mine, making sure residents have better links at affordable prices.

Describe yourself in 3 words: Hardworking, good sense of humour and sociable.

Who is your biggest hero? I have few! In politics it would be Tony Benn and Barbara Castle, in sport it would be Seve Ballesteros, Ian Botham, David Gower and Dino Zoff.

What is your proudest moment? There are a few, but getting elected for the first time in Northend ward in 2010 just shades it!

News Shopper:

STELLA GARDINER (GREEN)

Age? 48

Where do you live? Chislehurst

Where are you from originally? Plymouth in Devon

Why do you want to represent this constituency? Because in the 6 years I lived in Welling I saw people in need not represented by the main parties.

What local policy are you most passionate about? Housing

Describe yourself in 3 words: Passionate, green, aware.

Who is your biggest hero? My boyfriend.

What is your proudest moment? Being accepted as a woman by my family and their friends at a family function earlier this year.

CHRIS ATTARD (UKIP)

Refused to respond to our questions, citing News Shopper's "extreme bias towards UKIP".

He said: "The News Shopper has become widely known around the community as being a Conservative supporting paper, which constantly runs stories on how wonderful and caring our two Conservative MPs are.

"If I am lucky enough to be elected by local residents it will be with no help from your paper, and if that means by not responding to your questions that I am not elected then so be it - at least my integrity and principles remain intact, unlike most politicians and the News Shopper."

RICHARD DAVIS (LIB DEM) Did not reply
