A SCHEME is now open for young athletes competing at national and international level to apply for funding.
Sporting Best provides athletes aged over 14 funding for competition costs, travel expenses, equipment and coaching.
The programme is run by Bexley Council and sponsored by Coca Cola Enterprises Ltd.
Cabinet member for leisure, arts and tourism, Councillor Don Massey said: "I am delighted in these difficult economic times that Coca-Cola Enterprises Limited is continuing to support the Council's Sporting Best programme.
“I know that the funding they provide has been, and will continue to be, of great assistance to Bexley's young sporting talent".
Athletes are selected for the scheme by an independent panel comprising of a former international athlete, a Coca Cola representative and members of local sports clubs.
The deadline is August 31 and the youngsters must live in the borough.
