A 21-YEAR-OLD burglar has been sentenced to eight years in jail after ten men burst into a home, threatening a mum and her four-year-old daughter with a knife.
Alex Vedat, of Chislehurst High Street, Chislehurst, was one of 10 people who forced their way into the property at Thurbarn Road, Catford, on January 24 this year.
One of the victims managed to dial 999 and whisper the word "help" to the operator before the line was cleared by one of the burglars.
He then held a knife to her throat and threatened the life of her daughter if she did not hand over money.
Vedat pleaded guilty on May 24 at Woolwich Crown Court to aggravated burglary and was told he must serve a minimum four years of his eight-year sentence.
Detective Constable Rob Ramdhan from Lewisham Burglary Squad: "It was an utterly horrendous incident.
"He has shown no remorse for his actions."
