SHRIMP, crabs and fish are lurking in Deptford Creek and youngsters can pull on their wellies and find them this half term.
Described as London’s Grand Canyon, the creek is a goldmine of wildlife – home to the Chinese Mitten crab and an important nursery for young fish – and Creekside Education Trust is holding a fishing and crabbing day on Thursday, June 7, for children to get up close at the Creekside Discovery Centre.
All the kit is provided and five to seven-year-olds can fish from 10am to 11am and eight to 13-year-olds from 11.30am to 12.30am.
It costs £5 for children and £3 for adults – all children under eight must be accompanied. Call 020 8692 9922 or e-mail info@creeksidecentre.org.uk.
