A 40-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed for eight years after robbing bookmakers in Bexley and Gravesend.
Brett Scott Mullan, of Christianfields, Gravesend, was jailed on Friday (April 27) at Maidstone Crown Court after pleading guilty to two counts of robbery and two counts of possessing an imitation firearm.
Mullan committed the first robbery at Coral Bookmakers, in King Street, Gravesend, on December 23 last year.
He entered the shop and pointed the imitation gun - a walking stick wrapped in a plastic carrier bag - at a member of staff and demanded cash.
Mullan committed a similar offence at Coral Bookmakers, in Bexley High Street, on December 28 last year and was arrested in Gravesend the following day.
In total he stole around £1,300.
Detective Constable Richard Dorey said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the staff in the bookmakers and I’m pleased with the swift actions taken to arrest him and bring him to justice."
