YOUNG Eltham footballers have helped to re-open the town’s Co-operative store following a £290,000 refurbishment.
As part of a commitment to serving communities, the public-owned company also donated £200 to Eltham’s All Stars United Football Club as the players joined a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening day of trading.
The Co-operative group is the UK’s largest mutual business, and the new-look store is part of a wider scheme to give back to its six million customer members.
Manager of the Westhorne Avenue branch Chris Squire said: “It’s fantastic that youngsters from our local junior football club could join us to share in our special day.
“It is important to all the members of staff here that we meet people’s needs and we are all looking forward to welcoming our customers.”
