AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a man’s body was found on the railway tracks near Birkbeck station this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 7am but the man, believed to be 20 and from Bromley, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trains are still being diverted because of the incident.
Southern services between Crystal Palace and Beckenham Junction are affected and there are delays of around 20 minutes.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman said: “Enquiries are on going to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, including how he came to be on the tracks.
“The incident is currently being treated as unexplained and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
