LEIGH Academy enjoyed double success in the annual Fleet Cup.
The tournament is for secondary school girls’ football teams and there are two categories, one for pupils in Years 7 and 8 and the other for older girls in Years 9, 10 and 11.
Ebbsfleet United Ladies FC first team captain Faye Baker and club officials attended and were delighted with the turnout, as well as being impressed with the level of competition.
Leigh Academy hosted the tournament and took full advantage of home turf as they led the way in both age groups.
In the Year 7 and 8 event Leigh Academy were unbeaten in the group stages and went on to beat Mayfield Academy 1-0 in the semi-final.
They then overcome a very strong Wilmington Grammar team by a single goal in the final.
Leigh Academy and Mayfield Grammar both went through their group stages unbeaten, closely followed by Dartford Grammar and Wilmington Grammar.
And there was more for Leigh Academy to celebrate in the Years 9, 10 and 11 category as they defeated Dartford Grammar 2-0 in the final to seal a double triumph.
