PEOPLE are being encouraged to get fit as part of a new initiative to get residents healthier and happier.

Dartford Council has launched Get Active and is putting on a range of activities, ranging from aerobics and Zumba to yoga and falls prevention programmes.

The activities take place in community venues around Dartford and are open for anyone to take part.

There will also be a circular walk which starts and finishes outside Darent Valley Hospital’s main entrance on alternate Tuesdays at 10.30am.

The walks are led by qualified walk leaders and people are encouraged take it at their own pace.

For more information about Get Active, people can collect leaflets from their local library, doctor’s surgery or community centre.
