The Freddie Farmer Foundation in Eltham, south-east London is appealing to runners who have been lucky enough to secure a place through the Virgin London Marathon 2012 ballot to run and raise money for them.

By joining the 2012 Freddie Farmer Foundation marathon team, runners will be given a fantastic support package including fundraising advice and support.

The foundation was set up in February 2011 to raise £250,000 to set up a specialist physiotherapy centre in south-east London for children and young people with cerebral palsy and serious mobility problems.

Seven-year-old Freddie Farmer, who was born at 28 weeks with cerebral palsy, weighing just 2 lb 12 oz, has been the inspiration behind it.

The charity has now reached the £50,599 mark thanks to support in the local area, especially from Eltham, where Freddie lives.

Deanne Farmer from the Freddie Farmer Foundation said: “Running for Freddie can make your marathon experience even more rewarding and you’re guaranteed to meet loads of great new people along the way.”

The world famous Virgin London Marathon will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2012. It passes many of London's most famous historic landmarks, and is run on some of the most famous street names in the world.
