FIREFIGHTERS are warning people to take care when cooking after being called to a kitchen fire in Thamesmead.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus took around an hour to tackle the blaze in a house in Templar Drive.
Around half of the kitchen was damaged by fire but the firefighters managed to stop it spreading to the rest of the building.
One woman and four children were in the house when the fire started at around 2.45pm on Monday (February 13) and they all managed to get out before the emergency services arrived.
