A PERVERT has admitted using his mobile phone to film a teenager in the shower at a church camp.

Mark Pennell, aged 37, of Tooley Street, Northfleet, pleaded guilty to voyeurism at North Kent Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The offence relates to when Pennell and the 18-year-old victim attended a church camp last August.

Showering in the next cubicle to Pennell, the young man noticed Pennell’s phone on the floor of the cubicle, next to his wash bag, with the camera pointing at him and the screen lit up.

The victim said in a statement read out in court: “When I left the shower, Mark’s shower was still on, but he picked his phone up.”

The next evening, despite the shower room being empty, Pennell insisted on showering in the next cubicle and the victim again saw the camera on the phone pointing at him.

He tried three times to knock his boxer shorts off the cubicle peg to cover the camera, but Pennell kept moving them off.

He said: “I saw his hand go down and flick the boxers to one side.

“I bent down to pick them up and made a point to have a good look at his phone. I nudged the phone towards me, hoping I could see what was on the screen.

“I could see the camera was on. I then believed that Mark was definitely filming me.”

The man got out of the shower as quickly as possible and told his parents.

He said: “I was crying and I told them I was really scared.”

Pennell was granted bail and will be sentenced on February 7 at the same court.
