A SEEMINGLY out of control rubbish truck caused serious damage when it crashed in Bickley yesterday (January 10).
The vehicle collided with a stationary blue Ford Transit van in Oldfield Road before swerving across the other side of the road and hitting a lamp post and a tree.
It then swerved back across the other side of the street and mounted the pavement and went through a garden fence and hit a tree.
Firefighters arrived shortly after the incident, which happened at around 7am, to make the scene safe.
A man who was sitting in the stationary van was checked over at the scene by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment .
The driver of the rubbish truck, who is believed to be aged about 30, was taken to the Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough, suffering from shock.
There have been no arrests.
