PRIVATE hospitals in Bromley are offering free bowel cancer consultations as part of a charity “Be loud be clear” campaign to raise awareness about the disease.

BMI Chelsfield Park in Bucks Cross Road and the Sloane Hospital, in Albemarle Road, Beckenham, are offering the free consultations between January 23 and February 4.

The are taking part in the "Be loud be clear" campaign, which is run by the charity Beating Bowel Cancer.

Bowel cancer is the second largest cause of cancer related deaths in the UK, claiming 50 lives every day.

Dr Maxwell Asante, Consultant Gastroenterologist & General Physician at BMI Chelsfield Park and Sloane Hospitals, said: “The willingness of patients to speak openly and honestly with their doctors about their bowel symptoms can make a huge difference to their health outcome.

“I hope our participation in the event can help encourage people to become more aware of the disease.”

The appointments, which have to be booked in advance, will offer a free consultation and examination with a consultant gastroenterologist or bowel specialist, a stool test and an explanation of the results.
