A NORTHFLEET man has been jailed after being found in possession of cocaine and thousands of pounds in cash.

Dean Warner, of Springhead Road in Northfleet, was found with £11,175 and an ounce of off-white powder, which proved to be 59 per cent pure cocaine, when he was stopped by police in Scott Road, Gravesend last May.

At Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, January 6, the 28-year-old pleaded guilty to possession of a class A drug with intent to supply and possession of criminal property knowing it was the proceeds of criminal conduct.

Warner’s defence argued that he picked the drugs up less than 20 minutes before he was stopped and that he was delivering it for a small fee in order to pay off his debts.

He was sentenced to 20 months in prison for the drugs offence, which will run at the same time as a 10-month sentence for the money laundering. The court ordered for the forfeiture of the drugs and cash.

Detective Constable Si Osland, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: “This arrest and subsequent conviction demonstrates that the directorate will continue to strive to disrupt those involved in drugs supply, prosecute them and bring them to justice.”
