A BLOCK of flats in Beckenham was evacuated after a kitchen caught fire last night (January 8).
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued one person and led eight others to safety after arriving at the scene in the High Street just after 10pm.
It took them around three and a half hours to deal with the incident.
They managed to contain the blaze to the kitchen area of the flat where the fire started.
Ambulance staff and police were also at the scene.
It is not yet known whether anyone was seriously injured.
