CARS were wrecked, roads blocked and homes damaged by uprooted trees as storms battered the borough.
Bromley Council received more than 85 reports of fallen trees because of the high winds last week.
And these pictures taken by Polly Clarke in Barnmead Road, Beckenham, show the devastation caused when a tree fell on to commuters cars last Tuesday (January 3).
She says the tree fell across the entire street and was lifted off the ground, somehow ‘bouncing’ on top of one of the cars.
A Bromley Council spokeswoman says anyone who sees a fallen down tree in a park or in the street should call the council’s landscape helpdesk on 020 8313 4471 or email landscape.helpdesk@bromley.gov.uk
If the tree is on private property then the land owner can check the Arboricultural Association’s website trees.org.uk to find a reputable tree surgeon.
