ENTERPRISING scouts saw the effects of their fundraising when they jetted to Kenya for an expedition.
The fifty scouts and leaders left their families behind to spend just over a week with orphans in the east African country.
They worked for a year to raise more than £20,000 for the trip with some of this money paying for materials to build a new play area.
It also helped fund play equipment for the youngsters who have been orphaned by the ravages of HIV/AIDS and civil war.
Explorer Scout Rachel Allen, 18, from Bickley said: "It's been a great opportunity to go to another country and exchange life skills, to leave the Kenyans with resources they need and to have memories they and us will never forget. “It’s an amazing feeling."
