A new set of trams for south London’s Tramlink are being put through their paces in Germany.

The new vehicles will allow a more frequent service to be operated between Elmers End and Therapia Lane in Croydon, increasing capacity on the busiest part of the network.

The six Stadlet Variobahn trams are being tested in Chemnitz before they hit the tracks over here.

They are being built by Stadler Pankow in Berlin, and are due to start arriving in the UK later this month when driver training will begin.

All six will be delivered by spring this year.
