HIGH winds tore down part of a block of flats in Greenwich this morning (January 5) forcing families to leave their homes.
The people living on the top floor of the property in Bellot Street were evacuated at around 1.30am after part of the gable end wall collapsed.
Firefighters made the scene safe and left it in the hands of the borough surveyor.
Police officers were also in attendance.
