A BROMLEY building school has announced it is funding 30 new apprenticeships in London and Kent.
SWAY UK, a specialist construction skills accredited training provider based in Pembroke Road, will be offering the apprenticeships for unemployed teenagers in Greater London.
SWAY director Peter Samuel said: “New Year is a time when we all think about new opportunities, so it’s fantastic to be able to offer 30 youngsters who might otherwise be facing a bleak 2012 the chance to learn a skill for life - especially at a time when youth unemployment is continuing to grow.”
Students will work towards a level two diploma in fitted interiors and will learn key skills for installing bathrooms and kitchens, including plumbing, soldering, installing appliances and tiling.
Students, who will be paid £75 a week minimum, should be between 16 and 18, ideally with GCSEs in maths and English with grades D-G.
Successful applicants will receive up to 6 weeks pre-apprenticeship training with SWAY UK at their centre in Bromley before being matched to a suitable employer.
To find out more about the scheme, contact SWAY UK on 0208 466 6301 or email apprenticeships@swayuk.com.
The deadline for student applications is 22nd January 2012.
