POLICE were called to the QE2 bridge in Dartford this morning (January 4) after reports of a man threatening to jump off it.
Essex police officers talked to the man for approximately 45 minutes before he voluntarily accompanied them to safety.
A lifeboat from Gravesend was also called to the Dartford Crossing just after midnight and was put on standby in the Thames below.
The man, who alerted police to himself by using an SOS phone on the bridge, was subsequently detained under the mental health act.
