THE DARTFORD crossing has re-opened to traffic after being closed for more than eight hours today.
Motorists travelling clockwise from Essex into Kent were being diverted to use the east bore of the tunnel due to high winds on the QE2 Bridge.
The closure was in place from 7am this morning and significant tailbacks were experienced at both sides of the crossing throughout the day.
It was announced at 3:30pm the bridge had re-opened.
A statement on the Highways Agency website still warns motorists of 90 minute delays travelling between junction 1A at Dartford and junction 30 in Essex.
