AN MP is the latest person to criticise plans for a massive new development in Deptford.
Lewisham Deptford MP Joan Ruddock has added her voice to criticisms from organisations including Greenwich Council and English Heritage about the Convoys Wharf proposals.
The £1bn project, including blocks rising to 40 storeys high, is set to provide 3,514 new homes, along with shops, a river bus and wharf.
Ms Ruddock told News Shopper: “The developers have not, I believe, risen to the challenge of producing a development that marks the huge historic and cultural importance of this site.”
She said: “I’m planning further meetings at which constituents can make their views known.”
Ms Ruddock added: “I’m not against high-rises but there has to be some limit to the amount of massing on any particular site.
“I think the outline plans that the company has submitted do have too great a mass.”
