A PRIMARY school has unveiled a plaque in memory of a former pupil who played football for England.
Around 170 pupils at Lawn Road Primary School, in High Street, Northfleet, attended a special assembly about Ted Ditchburn.
The professional goalkeeper played for Northfleet United, Tottenham Hotspurs and represented England on six occasions during the 50s and 60s.
Members of the Gravesend Heritage Association, chairman of Ebbsfleet United Phil Sonsara and MP for Gravesham Adam Holloway attended the special day.
Youngsters aged five to 11 also received certificates for their sporting achievements.
Headteacher Angela Wilson said: "It's great for the students that we have at the moment. We are trying to instill in them that they can accomplish anything when they put their minds to it.
"It instills a sense of pride."
