REDEVELOPMENT of Bromley North Village is set to be full steam ahead now a train company has jumped on board.
Bromley Council is working on a 15 year plan which will see the development of pedestrian friendly open spaces around the Market Square, High Street North and East Street areas.
As part of the town centre area action plan, the rebuild aims to attract new retailers and bring a cafe culture to the town.
And when they come they will be able to get there by train as Southeastern has announced it is increasing the number of off-peak services between Bromley North and Grove Park from two an hour to three from December 11.
The changes are being introduced following a consultation with local stakeholders including the MP for Bromley and Chislehurst Bob Neill, London Assembly member for Bexley and Bromley James Cleverley, user groups and councillors.
Mr Neill said: “I welcome Southeastern’s decision to increase the frequency of this popular shuttle service.
“The change comes at a time when Bromley’s public transport networks must keep pace with demand and the exciting re-development of the town centre.
“I have no doubt that this new timetable will make a noticeable difference for many local residents.”
And Mr Cleverley said: “I'm pleased to see that Southeastern have responded to the growing need for services from Bromley North.
“The area is becoming increasingly vibrant and this increase will be good news for local commuters and businesses."
