YOUNGSTERS have been inspired by children’s TV presenter Floella Benjamin during Black History Month.
The former Playschool presenter visited James Wolfe Primary school in Greenwich, talking about her 1960 journey to Britain from Trinidad and some of the racism she encountered.
The speech was used to compliment pupils’ lessons where they have been learning about issues like slavery along with cultural activities like carnival.
At the end of the month, the school will hold an exhibition for parents featuring all the children’s work throughout the month.
Dance and drama teacher Lee-Ann Williams said: “She was a captivating lady and a brilliant story teller.”
