A PETITION calling for a footbridge over a stretch of road where a schoolboy was killed now has almost half of its 10,000 signatures target.
The petition urges Transport for London (TfL) to build a footbridge over the A20 outside Flamingo Park on the border of Chislehurst and Sidcup, where 14-year-old Kaine May died on July 17.
Kemnal Technology College pupil Kaine, from Bexley, died after being hit by a Honda Accord while trying to cross the dual carriageway.
The college’s headteacher Christian Markham said: “On a personal level, we are supporting the petition.
“We have not spoken to the governors yet, but I suspect they would be very supportive and we will follow this up in the new year in September.”

- The driver of the Accord, a 34-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, and bailed to return to a south London police station in October.
