A FAKE doctor suspect has appeared in court today (July 26) accused of scamming the NHS out of thousands of pounds. Conrad De Souza, of Whitmore Road, Beckenham, is charged with fraud which dates back to 2001. The 53-year-old is accused of having a bogus degree certificate, which claims to be issued by the University of London. He is also accused of obtaining pay from Lewisham PCT for work after falsely claiming to be a GP. And he is also accused of deceiving Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham Health Authority into paying him to be a clinical advisor by saying he was qualified for the position. De Souza did not enter a plea and the case was adjourned at Bromley Magistrates’ Court until September 6.
