A STREAM of frustration is flowing through Petts Wood after Bromley Council closed the public toilets.

People who live and work in the village say they fear being caught short after the council closed the toilets in Station Square two weeks ago to save money.

But the council says it has ensured there are alternatives, as businesses in Petts Wood have agreed to allow non customers to use their toilets.

Signs outside the closed toilet say where these businesses are, and they include Cafe Maz and Costa Coffee.

However, William Martin, of Ascot Road, who walks his dog in Petts Wood, says the businesses are not an adequate replacement because their toilets are only open during trading hours.

He said: “The toilets were very convenient for bus drivers and lorry drivers who had deliveries to do, and also for myself. Now there is nowhere, because even the station toilets are shut.”
