BROMLEY Council has submitted its bid for a share of the Mayor of London’s £50m fund to boost town centres across the capital.
Council leader Councillor Stephen Carr hand delivered the boroughs application for £500,000 to the mayor, Boris Johnson.
The mayor’s £50m Outer London Fund will pay for improvements to boroughs which will not directly benefit from the 2012 Olympics.
If the council gets the money, it will be used to improve town centres in Beckenham, Penge, Crystal Palace, Bromley and Orpington.
This includes creating a heritage trail in Bromley to showcase historic spots, and augmenting the pedestrian route between the high street and train station in Orpington.
Cllr Carr said: “We have looked at projects which will provide value and particular support for businesses.”
